- 1964 Winter Edition. 9" x 12". 20 pages. Color semi-glossy cover with black & white content (printed on multi-color paper).
We are offering a highly graphic tour program from this spectacular Rock & Roll/Soul live event. "The Caravan of Stars" was a road show featuring some of the most popular stars and musical groups of the day. From the late 1950s through the late 1960s, Dick Clark promoted the Caravan of Stars concert series across America.
This was the 1964 Winter Tour, and performers include Johnny Tillotson, The Drifters, The Supremes (with Diana Ross), Brian Hyland, Bobby Freeman, The Hondells, The Crystals, Dee Dee Sharp, Sonny Knight, Mike Clifford, George McCannon III, The Velvettes, Lou Christie, and Jimmy Ford & the Executives.
Packed with b&w photos of all the stars (including a 26.6" x 12" centerfold featuring Johnny Tillotson). Nice biography pages on most of the performers.
A great Rock & Roll/Soul/Motown lineup and an excellent early reference.
This item is considered in GOOD to FAIR condition with miscellaneous surface/stain/edge wear. Misc. surface creasing & scuffing on front & back covers. Cover has approx. 1.25" spine edge separation. Moderate surface creasing inside with one 3" fold edge tear on centerfold & minor spine edge tears. Centerfold page spread is loose from staples. Moderate ink doodling on back cover with date "Nov. 25, 1964" inked by lucky concert goer on inner cover.
Overall, despite defects, we feel it is in very displayable & serviceable condition by most standards (see photos).
This original booklet would make a great find for the ROCK & ROLL and/or VINTAGE SOUL/MOTOWN MUSIC enthusiast. On a condition code scale of 1 to 10, the above listed items are rated - (7-6).
