    Description

Original U.S. One-Sheet Poster (27x41) Folded Very Good Plus Condition
Paramount Pictures Original U.S. One-Sheet Poster (27x41), folded, in average used condition, for the George Marshall directed musical drama INCENDIARY BLONDE (1945). The film stars the irrepressible Betty Hutton. The title, lest it gets lost on you, is actually a pun on the words "incendiary bomb". Audiences had heard a lot about those by the close of World War II. The movie is a somewhat sanitized biopic of Mary Louise "Texas" Guinan, a feisty bronco-riding Wild Westerner who became the "Queen of the Nightclubs" in prohibition-era New York City. INCENDIARY BLONDE also features Arturo de Cordova, Barry Fitzgerald, Charlie Ruggles, William Haade, Arthur Loft, Jean Willes, Bud Jamison and Albert Dekker. Hutton rocketed to stardom at Paramount in the forties in a series of big hit films. She was famously treated shabbily when she was lent to MGM (to replace a troubled Judy Garland) in the starring role of Annie Oakley in ANNIE GET YOUR GUN (1950), one of Metro's biggest musicals. She returned to Paramount, danced with Fred Astaire in LET'S DANCE, and in 1952 appeared as Holly, the trapeze artist in THE GREATEST SHOW ON EARTH. A couple more films and her star had waned. She won the hearts of a new audience years later, giving a candid interview with Robert Osborne at Turner Classic Movies.
